Former footballer Owen Hargreaves believes that Phil Fodenwill be more special in the upcoming future than Mason Greenwood who has been achieving records recently. Meanwhile,Foden has begun with a slow start but in the recent games, one could see he has been on his game. The young player will be serving as the replacement of David Silva in the upcoming matches of City across all the competition. Even though both of these belong to various positions, comparisons of the duo have been raised.
Hargreaves who has played for both the Premier League clubs says that even though he is the fan of Greenwood he believes Foden is more talented. While Hargreaves was working in the under 14 squad of Manchester City,he has seen him play he was only half the size of other players due to this he will always be one step ahead of other players.
“He had to be clever to stay one step ahead. He’s grown so much and he’s literally twice the size now. Once he stops growing and his co-ordination gets better he’s going to be unplayable. I think he’ll be one of England’s best players in a couple of year’s time,” said Hargreaves.
The former footballer added that England knows that their younger generation is ready for debut in the national team but it seems like they are giving themselves time. There are players like James Maddison and Mason Mount who are also awaiting their England call up but even amid these players, he feels Foden is more talented and special.
Hargreaves has more words to praise the Manchester City player saying that no one can coach what the player has. All the young players have the potential but Foden stands over them with his game and impact on the team. After the resumption of the league, the player has appeared to be the first choice of the club. In the current season, he has scored seven goals and four of them have been after the resumption of the league.
