Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves has named Luke Shaw as the best left-back in the Premier League ahead of Andy Robertson of Liverpool.
Manchester United left-backShaw has been in the form of his life in recent weeks and it’s not surprising that Owen Hargreaves has picked him ahead of his Liverpool counterpart. According to Owen Hargreaves, Scottish international Robertson was the best left-back last season but Shaw has overtaken him this season.
The form of Shaw could be attributed to the signing of a new left-back at the start of this campaign. Manchester United signed Brazilian international left-back Alex Telles from FC Porto and his arrival definitely threatened the starting XI status of Shaw. The Englishman has responded well to the arrival of Telles by taking his game to a new level.
Bruno Fernandes was the clear winner at Manchester United in the opening months of this campaign as far as the monthly player award at the club is concerned but Shaw has replaced him as the award recipient in the past months.
His form earned him a recall to the national team fold last month and he’s on course to make the 23-man England squad for the European Championships this summer.
At Manchester United, the target for Shaw and his teammates is to win the Europa League and also qualify for the Champions League next season as the second best team if they can’t catch leaders Manchester City at the Premier League summit.
